The dam is Dangerous Impact (Dangerous), and Kooringal's Stud manager Gus Lamont reports that the newcomer "is a lovely, correct foal. It gives us great confidence in what is to come from Shrapnel's first crop." Shrapnel joined the Kooringal Stud stallion roster in 2012 after a brilliant racing career under the supervision of ace trainer Mark Kavanagh. The precocious son of Charge Forward won the Gr3 SAJC Breeders' Stakes as a 2YO before landing the Gr2 SAJC Yallambee Stakes at three. In between his two feature race successes, Shrapnel also placed third in the Gr1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes.
