Dick Turpin Arrives Back At Mungrup

Wednesday, 21st August 2013

WA's Mungrup Stud has taken receipt of returning shuttle stallion Dick Turpin (Arakan-Merrily, by Sharrood). Following the birth of his first Northern Hemisphere foal in late January, Mungrup's Williamson family is now celebrating the birth of his first two foals in Australia. Over the weekend a half-brother to Gr1 Railway Stakes winner Old Fashion was foaled out of Jevington mare Matilda Waltz, while a filly was also born out of Metal Storm mare Storm Blues. Dick Turpin, who will again stand at $8,800, retired with a Timeform rating of 127 after 9 wins (6 at group level). Undefeated in his first 4 starts as a juvenile, Dick Turpin's career highlight (which included a quartet of Gr1 placings) came in France's Gr1 Prix Jean Prat over 1600m at Chantilly where he won by an authoritative margin.
