Promising Toydini Epsom Bound

Thursday, 22nd August 2013

Warwick Farm horseman Guy Walter has confirmed the Gr1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on August 5 is the major spring goal for promising galloper Toydini (Bernardini-Johan's Toy, by Johan Cruyff), reports horseracing.com.au. The gifted 4YO displayed significant potential during the autumn winning the Gr2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) & the Gr3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) before failing to run out a strong 2000m in the Frank Packer Plate at his last outing. Walter says Toydini, who will resume against a high quality field in the Gr2 Warwick Stakes this Saturday, has been gelded and believes it has transformed him as a horse. "He was gelded which made a huge difference to him and he is a horse that likes to have his races spaced a bit," explained Walter. "He is more a sprinter/miler than a middle distance style horse. At this stage we are hoping he can be an Epsom horse and possibly go to Melbourne." Toydini's talented dam Johan's Toy finished runner-up to Gai Waterhouse's grand campaigner Desert War in the 2005 edition of the Epsom.
