Commands Inches Within $865 Of Exceed And Excel
Just when reigning champion Australian sire Exceed And Excel looked like consolidating his dominance at the top of the sires' premiership, another Darley stallion, and another son of Danehill, has surged to within a mere $865 of the top placed stallion. After enjoying a very productive weekend, Commands now sits in 2nd position with earnings of $497,810, just shy of Exceed And Excel's $498,675. Leading the way for Commands was the exciting David Hayes-trained 3YO filly Gregers (Commands-Satnav, by Canny Lad) who took out the opening race at Moonee Valley, while at the same venue, former Singapore galloper Clear For Action (Commands-Petal Power, by Exbourne) made a welcome return to the winner's circle. At Belmont, 7YO gelding Imperial Command (Commands-Silver Jubilee, by Quest for Fame) notched the fifth win of his career, and at Warwick Farm the Chris Waller-trained Vilanova (Commands-Valpolicella, by Red Ransom) added to Commands' progeny earnings when finishing 3rd in the Gr3 Up And Coming Stakes. Indeed, sons of Danehill occupy the top 4 spots with Choisir ($441,485) & Redoute's Choice ($432,080) sitting in 3rd & 4th respectively. Redoute's Choice's son Snitzel ($396,357) rounds out the top 5.
