DBS Premier Sale: £210,000 Fast Company Colt
At the opening session of the UK's Doncaster Bloodstock Premier Sale, Mandore International's Nicolas de Watrigant was pushed to £210,000 by fellow agent Angus Gold to take home a colt by UK freshman sire Fast Company (Danehill Dancer-Sheezalady, by Zafonic). The colt's sire, who is shuttling to Chile for the 2013 Southern Hemisphere season, notched 2 wins (on debut & then in the UK Gr3 Acomb Stakes over 7 furlongs at York) & a runner-up (in the UK Gr1 Dewhurst Stakes over 7 furlongs at Newmarket) from his only 3 starts, before an injury the following winter ended his track career. Watrigant told bloodstock.racingpost.com: "He was the best horse at the sale - an absolute standout - and I just fell in love with him. He's for Sheikh Joaan and is the first horse he has ever bought at this sale. He will be trained by Richard Hannon."
