Guineas Hope Kingman To Resume At UK's Sandown
Beautifully related colt Kingman (Invincible Spirit-Zenda, by Zamindar) will resume this weekend in the Gr3 Solario Stakes (7 furlongs) at Sandown, reports racingpost.com. The John Gosden-trained colt is one of the leading fancies for next year's English 2,000 Guineas following his eye-catching debut at Newmarket in June where he belted the opposition by 6-lengths. However, the Solario is not known as a race that produces classic winners. Indeed, the last success story was the late Sir Henry Cecil-trained Oh So Sharp, who claimed the race in 1985 en route to the Gr1 English Oaks & 1,000 Guineas. Kingman, who is from the Gr1-winning Zamindar mare Zenda and a half-brother to the promising Gr3 winning filly Remote, is as short as 5-1 for the 2014 Guineas. Among the other more interesting Solario entries is the Dubawi colt Piping Rock, from the Richard Hannon yard, & the undefeated and highly regarded Godolphin colt Silent Bullet, by Darley's champion Australian sire Exceed & Excel.
