Possible Breeders' Cup Swansong For Jwala
Nunthorpe Stakes winner Jwala (Oasis Dream-Kangra Valley, by Indian Ridge) may have her swansong in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in November, reports sportinglife.com. Connections of the 4YO mare have confirmed that she will be retired at season's end but are yet to decide which race will be her last. The Gr1 Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp on October 6 is definitely on her agenda but in winning last Friday's Gr1 at York, Jwala received an automatic entry for the prestigious US race. The Breeders' Cup invitation, which includes an all-expenses paid trip, has her owners seriously considering their options. "The Abbaye is definite and she won't be racing next year, but there's a possibility she may take up an invite for the Breeders' Cup," said trainer Robert Cowell. "The owners are mulling over their options at the moment. They probably don't have a lot to lose so there's a small chance she may take up that engagement as well, but we'll see."
