Game On Dude Time Unchanged After Review
The controversy surrounding the official time of Sunday's Gr1 Pacific Classic (10 furlongs) has finally been put to bed with race club officials ruling that the time will remain unchanged, reports drf.com. Del Mar officials met on Wednesday to discuss the final time of 2:00.69 recorded by Game On Dude in his record-setting 8.5-length win and concluded that the timing mechanism did not malfunction. Some high-profile racing performance analysts, such as Randy Moss from the Beyer Speed Figure team, queried the official time and after conducting frame-by-frame analysis, estimated the time to be about 1:59.74, approximately 1.5 seconds quicker. However, several executives, along with Del Mar's track-timer Russ Hudak, reviewed the race and found no evidence that the timing was not working properly. "The bottom line is we haven't seen or heard anything that tells us a change is needed," said director of racing, Tom Robbins. During the meeting, several camera angles were reviewed to see if anything odd happened at the start. "It didn't appear to happen," added Hudak.
