Sangster Grandson Scores First Win As Jockey
Ollie Sangster, grandson of the late and legendary Swettenham Stud founder Sir Robert Sangster, has ridden his first ever winner, reports sportinglife.com. The 16YO, who will return to his studies this weekend at Marlborough College, guided the Alan Swinbank-trained Lothair to victory in the Betfair Novice Flat Amateur Riders' Handicap (5 furlongs) at Carlisle on Wednesday. The only hiccup in an otherwise astute performance was when Sangster Jnr lost concentration and was unseated after crossing the line. "I think I was kind of up in the clouds after the line, but it was all fine," he said. "I'd like to do more of the Flat, but I may have to move into the jumps depending on my size. I'll just take it as it comes."
