Alpha Wins Gr1 Woodward Stakes

At Saratoga in the US, triple Gr1-winning Darley shuttler & US Eclipse Award-winning stallion Bernardini (A.P.Indy-Cara Rafaela, by Quiet American) added a Gr1 success when the Godolphin-owned 4YO entire Alpha (Bernardini-Munnaya, by Nijinsky) scored by a head in wet conditions for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin in the US$750,000 Gr1 Woodward Stakes (9 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 7YO entire Flat Out (Flatter-Cresta Lil, by Cresta Rider) & 7YO gelding Successful Dan (Successful Appeal-Lisa Danielle, by Wolf Power). Alpha took his record to 6 wins (including the Gr1 Travers Stakes & Gr2 Jim Dandy Stakes) & 2 placings (including the Gr1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont & the Gr1 Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct) from 16 starts.
