Tuesday, 3rd September 2013

At Monmouth Park in the US, 2YO colt Dunkin Bend (Dunkirk-Misty Run, by Vindication) became the first stakes winner for his young first-crop sire Dunkirk (Unbridled's Song-Secret Status, by A.P. Indy) when scoring by 1.25-lengths for trainer Steve Asmussen in the US$96,000 Gr3 Sapling Stakes (6 furlongs) on Sunday, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. Dunkirk was a talented 3YO who won 2 of his 5 starts and was twice-placed at Gr1 level, namely in the 2009 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park & the Belmont Stakes behind Summer Bird. The 7YO Dunkirk, from the Gr1 Kentucky Oaks heroine Secret Status, stands at Ashford Stud in Kentucky at a fee of US$10,000.
