Golden Slipper Sibling To Debut Today

Tuesday, 3rd September 2013

Three-year-old gelding Obeyed (Commands-Patou, by Covetous), a half-brother to Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, will make his debut in the Goulburn Workers Club Maiden Handicap (1000m) at Goulburn today. Trained by Warwick Farm horseman Gary Portelli, Obeyed was an $85,000 purchase by Elite Thoroughbreds from the draft of Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud at the 2012 Magic Millions Yearling Gold Coast Yearling Sale. Obeyed is the 8th foal to race from stakes-placed Covetous mare Patou, who has also produced stakes performers Parfumier (Belong To Me), Eau de Joie (Encosta de Lago) & Port Headland (Woodman). Polar Success won 4 of her 17 starts, including the 2003 Golden Slipper & Gr2 Reisling Slipper Trial, for career earnings of $2,171,505. This is the same family as Gr1 Australian Oaks winner Circles Of Gold, the dam of multiple Gr1 winning sires Elvstroem (Danehill) & Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus).
