Novellist Wins Gr1 Grosser Preis Von Baden

Tuesday, 3rd September 2013

At Baden-Baden in Germany, 4-time Gr1-winning 4YO entire Novellist (Monsun-Night Lagoon, by Lagunas) scored by 0.75-length for trainer Andreas Wohler in the €250,000 Gr1 Grosser Preis Von Baden (12 furlongs) for 3YO+, over Irish-bred 5YO gelding and stable mate Seismos (Dalakhani-Sasuela, by Dashing Blade) & French-bred 5YO gelding Meandre (Slickly-Penne, by Sevres Rose). This was the Irish-bred Novellist's third consecutive Gr1 victory and improved his already imposing record to 9 wins (including the last-start Gr1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Gr1 Prix de Saint-Cloud & Gr1 Premio del Jockey Club) & a placing (in the Gr1 Deutsches Derby) from 11 starts for €1,197,990 earnings. Novellist continues to tick along nicely for his end-of-season goal, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
