Underwood Next Stop For It's A Dundeel

Tuesday, 3rd September 2013

New Zealand trainer Murray Baker has confirmed that the $350,000 Gr1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on September 21 will be the next spring assignment for 4YO entire It's A Dundeel (High Chaparral-Stareel, by Zabeel), reports NZ Racing Desk. It's A Dundeel resumed with a pleasing 4th behind superstar mare Atlantic Jewel in the Memsie Stakes with Baker reporting he had "bounced through" the run in good order. "The winner was super, but he didn't have a lot of luck. He just couldn't get rolling," explained the Cambridge horseman. "Barrier one was always against him and he's not a 1400m horse. I thought he went well." Jockey James McDonald described It's A Dundeel's effort as "super" and also lamented drawing the inside gate. "Just the one gate was always going to do it. He's just not a horse that needs to be drawn down near the fence," McDonald said. "You just can't use him from in there, but he'll be fine."
