Moudre To Resume In Makybe

Wednesday, 4th September 2013

The Ciaron Maher-trained Moudre (Blevic-Tolkaami, by Raami) is set to resume in Saturday's $350,000 Gr1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington, reports NZ Racing Desk. The talented 8YO resumed in the same race last year when producing his trademark finishing burst to storm home for third behind Southern Speed and Manighar. But things quickly went awry when Moudre finished last at his subsequent outing in the Turnbull Stakes, the victim of an unsuitable track which affected his entire campaign. "The track was too hard that day," explained Maher. "He hated it and it ruined his campaign. He refused to let down again in any race that spring." Maher reported that Moudre had "come up similar to last year" and that he was pleased with his preparation. "He's been in work since May so his fitness is good and he's ready to go to the races." He added, "He doesn't give you much on the training track but he can save it for race-day. We'll take him there on Saturday and see what happens."
