Frankel Begins Southern Hemisphere Time Matings

Thursday, 5th September 2013

In an exciting prospect for his many fans south of the Equator, undefeated world champion galloper Frankel will begin covering "a limited book of mares over the coming weeks to southern hemisphere time at Banstead Manor" reports bloodstock.racingpost.com. Among the down-under matrons to visit the son of Galileo will be "eight-time Gr1 winner More Joyous, Jeu De Cartes, a Gr2-winning half-sister to Australian Derby hero Nom De Jeu, and top New Zealand racemare Uberalles, who was third in the Gr1 New Zealand Derby." Their fee is £110,000. Frankel's debut northern hemisphere season concluded with 133 mares covered, among them a veritable who's who of Europe's highest profile blue hens with the obvious exception of mares who are themselves by Galileo.
