Paris Next Stop For Al Kazeem

Thursday, 5th September 2013

The prospect of fast ground at Leopardstown this weekend has made it increasingly likely that top UK galloper Al Kazeem (Dubawi-Kazeem, by Darshaan) will miss the Irish Champion Stakes and target France instead, reports sportinglife.com. The Roger Charlton-trained 5YO has enjoyed a fantastic campaign so far, completing a Gr1 hat-trick in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh, the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Eclipse Stakes at Sandown. The only time he has met defeat in his last six outings was on firm ground in the Juddmonte International at York last month and with similar conditions likely in Ireland, the Gr2 Prix Foy (12 furlongs) at Longchamp on September 15 is now on the agenda. "If you look at the weather forecast there should be some rain on Wednesday into Thursday, but I don't think a lot," commented Charlton. "It will take a lot to change the ground there, so I would say he's extremely unlikely (to run) unless suddenly we read there's a thunder storm and it's going to pour with rain."
