Mull Of Killough To Target Cox Plate
UK galloper Mull Of Killough (Mull of Kintyre-Sun Shower, by Indian Ridge) could use the Fortune Stakes at Sandown later this month as a preparatory race for the $3 million Gr1 WS Cox Plate, reports ukracing.com. Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam is keen to bring her stable star to Australia for the premier weight-for-age event at Moonee Valley on October 26. The Irish-bred Mull Of Killough has won 8 of his 28 starts and appears to be improving with age with three stakes victories and a stakes placing from his last 6 outings. The 7YO two-time Gr3 winner has been tested in Gr1 company twice, when finishing a creditable fifth in the Singapore Airlines International Cup in May & 8th in the Arlington Million last month. "He has done his first piece of work since coming back from Arlington, where we thought the track was too hard for him," said Chapple-Hyam. "We want to run in the Cox Plate and the plan is to give him a prep run in a Listed race at Sandown on September 18."
