Galileo Adds Second Ireland Gr3

Monday, 9th September 2013

At Leopardstown in Ireland, former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a group success when beautifully bred 2YO colt Australia (Galileo-Ouija Board, by Cape Cross) scored by an eye-catching 6-lengths eased down for trainer Aidan O'Brien in the €60,000 Gr3 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Trial Stakes (8 furlongs) for 2YOs, over fellow 2YO and stable-mate Free Eagle (High Chaparral-Polished Gem, by Danehill) & Kingfisher (Galileo-Mystical Lady, by Halling). Australia lived right up to his imposing pedigree with a brilliant burst of acceleration to land his maiden stakes victory, taking his record to 2 wins & a placing from 3 starts for €53,265 earnings. O'Brien told irishracing.com, "We always thought the world of him. He doesn't know he's a racehorse yet. He's very special."
