The Fugue Wins Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes

At Leopardstown in Ireland, outstanding 4YO mare The Fugue (Dansili-Twyla Tharp, by Sadler's Wells) scored by 1.25-lengths for trainer John Gosden in the €750,000 Gr1 Irish Champion Stakes (10 furlongs) for 3YO+, over 5YO entire Al Kazeem (Dubawi-Kazeem, by Darshaan) & 3YO colt Trading Leather (Teofilo-Night Visit, by Sinndar). This was The Fugue's second consecutive Gr1 triumph and took her record to 5 wins (including the Gr1 Nassau Stakes & last-start Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks) & 5 placings (including the Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks, Gr1 English Oaks, Gr1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf & Prince Of Wales's Stakes) from 12 starts for £1,045,403 earnings.
