Australian Kick-Off Likely For Mufhasa

Tuesday, 10th September 2013

New Zealand's recent inclement weather has trainer Bruce Wallace leaning toward Australia as the starting point for Mufhasa's spring campaign, reports NZ Racing Desk. Wallace says he is considering the Gr1 George Main Stakes (1600m) in Sydney on September 21 or the Gr1 Sir Rupert Clark Stakes (1400m) in Melbourne on the same day. "The tracks in New Zealand are too wet," Wallace said. "He had a trial at Avondale last week and although he wasn't up against much, he won by nine lengths. At some stage soon he will retire, but not just yet." Mufhasa (who races as King Mufhasa in Australia) has won 20 of his 61 career starts including 10 Gr1s on both sides of the Tasman.
