Cauthen To Miss Spring

Wednesday, 11th September 2013

Top Kiwi colt Cauthen (Darci Brahma-Minori Express, by Green Line Express) has succumbed to shin soreness and will miss the remainder of the Melbourne Spring Carnival, reports theinformant.co.nz. Cauthen, a leading contender for the Gr1 Caulfield Guineas, was found to be suffering from the thumps (synchronous diaphragmatic flutter) following his disappointing performance in the Listed Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes at Flemington last Saturday. Trainer Andrew Campbell was confident the son of Darci Brahma would quickly rebound from the setback, but when an X-ray on Tuesday showed the 3YO was also shin sore connections decided not to take any risks. "It's gut-wrenching, but that's the highs and lows of racing," Campbell said.
