King's Rock (Fastnet Rock-Nureyev's Girl, by Nureyev), a three-quarter brother to Gr1 winner King's Rose, will make his racetrack debut in the Tom & Don's Tribute To Dunstan Dave Maiden (1400m) at Te Rapa today. Jason Bridgman, who trains for David Ellis's Te Akau Racing operation at Matamata, has been entrusted with the NZ$1.75 million yearling. The valuable colt was purchased by Ellis at the 2012 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Sir Patrick Hogan's Cambridge Stud. King's Rose (Redoute's Choice) has established herself as one of the best NZ mares of recent times, winning 8 of her 23 starts, including the Gr1 NZ 1,000 Guineas, for $1,073,587 in prize-money. The winner of 7 stakes races in total, she also claimed the 2011 Gr2 Memsie Stakes before it was elevated to Gr1 status.
