Wise Dan Ready For Woodbine Title Defence

Wednesday, 11th September 2013

Reigning US Horse Of The Year Wise Dan (Wiseman's Ferry-Lisa Danielle, by Wolf Power) will arrive in Canada later this week in readiness for his title defence in Saturday's Gr1 Woodbine Mile (1600m), reports bloodhorse.com. "He'll leave on Thursday evening from Kentucky to be there Friday morning by 11 a.m.," explained trainer Charlie LoPresti. The 6YO will have his final serious gallop at LoPresti's Keeneland base before departing. "We'll let him do a little half-mile or three-furlong breeze just to keep him ticking over. He's really fit and ready to go," said LoPresti. Wise Dan, who boasts the exceptional strike rate of 17 wins from 24 starts, including 6 Gr1 victories, will be striving for his 9th straight stakes success. "It's not like he's a stallion and we're trying to prove anything as far as breeding or standing him at stud," LoPresti said. "We just want to put him in places where we can keep him undefeated and we can enjoy him." Wise Dan's career earnings currently stand at US$4,464,070.
