Weather To Determine Wild Coco Path

Thursday, 12th September 2013

Mother Nature will determine where UK mare Wild Coco (Shirocco-Wild Side, by Sternkonig) will race this weekend, reports racingpost.com. Wild Coco will contest either the Gr1 Irish St Leger at The Curragh or the Gr1 Prix Vermeille at Longchamp, depending on which track is the most rain affected. The highly talented 5YO, who boasts the imposing strike rate of 5 wins from 8 starts, was last seen claiming back-to-back victories in the Gr3 Lillie Langtry Stakes (12 furlongs) at Goodwood off an 11-month break. However, the German-bred galloper must have some ease in the ground to be seen at her best. She was a late omission from the Yorkshire Oaks, taken out by The Fugue, when the ground at York proved too firm. "As ever with Wild Coco, plans are entirely ground dependant. We have left her in the Irish St Leger and we will leave her in the French race at Wednesday's forfeit stage," explained Lady Cecil. "It depends on what rain we get between now and the weekend before we decide where she will go."
