Hayes Goes Into Bat For Rocking

Friday, 13th September 2013

Meanwhile, pre-race jousting has already begun on the eve of $1 million Gr1 Golden Rose in Sydney tomorrow, reports theaustralian.com.au, with trainer David Hayes believing that bookmakers have underestimated his talented colt Fast 'N' Rocking by quoting him at $6 against ultra promising local Victorian rival Prince Harada ($4.20). In a "runs on the board" scenario, Hayes bullishly defended his star colt, despite bookmakers crystal balling a different result in the Golden Rose, based on a roughhouse McNeil Stakes clash where Prince Harada was the victim of interference. "It is not about the market, it is about the result", Hayes noted. Of course, there's much more on the line than bragging rights in the Golden Rose with some of Australia's leading juveniles bidding to add gold leaf to their CV's. Hayes added, "Winning this race is about much more than $1 million. A colt could be worth millions if he wins this race."
