Keeneland Sep Day-4: US$2.5 Million War Front Colt
With Ballydoyle enjoying exceptional success with the progeny of boom sire War Front, connections went on the front foot in the early hours of this morning when purchasing the top-priced lot on Day-4 of the Keeneland September Sale. Knocked down for US$2.5 million to become the highest priced yearling at Keeneland this year and the highest since 2010, Lot 712 is out of Blading Gold Ring. Other 7-figure yearlings included a US$1.2 million Tapit half-brother to Gr1 winner Justin Phillips, and a US$1 million Medaglia d'Oro colt out of multiple Gr1 winner Dream Supreme. There have now been 16 yearlings sold for US$1 million or more, the most to reach the benchmark since 18 in 2008. Friday is a rest day at Keeneland before sales recommence on Saturday and run until 21 September.
