Pasquier Cleared To Resume Riding
Leading French jockey Stephane Pasquier has been cleared to resume riding on Thursday September 12 after a civil ruling suspended his 3-month ban, reports racingpost.com. Pasquier and his legal counsel applied on Monday for a suspension of his sentence, having always maintained there was evidence of contamination in his positive sample for a banned substance given in April. Pasquier's agent Herve Naggar said: "It does not mean the ban is overturned but it is suspended until a court procedure next year." Pasquier was suspended for three months by France Galop stewards, a decision that was subsequently upheld on appeal on August 12. The sport's governing body took the unusual step of imposing a ban that was half the usual term, explaining that it accounted for a level of doubt surrounding how the substance came to be in Pasquier's system.
