Alterite Wins US Gr1 Garden City Stakes

Monday, 16th September 2013

At Belmont in the US, 3YO French-bred filly Alterite (Literato-Ana Luna, by Dream Well) scored by 1.5-lengths for trainer Chad Brown in the US$500,000 Gr1 Garden City Stakes (9 furlongs) for 3YOs, over fellow 3YO fillies Discreet Marq (Discreet Cat-To Marquet, Marquetry) & Concise (Lemon Drop Kid-Cut Short, Diesis). Alterite took her record to 4 wins (including the Listed Criterium de l'Ouest at Craon & Listed Prix La Camargo at Saint-Cloud) & 3 placings (including Longchamp's Gr1 Prix Saint-Alary & Gr1 Prix Marcel Boussac) from 10 starts. "She came over to me in real good shape from her previous trainer, and she just settled in beautifully," Brown told bloodhorse.com. "She's a high-strung horse, and I thought she handled herself in the race very well. She should improve from here."
