Dunaden To Return For Third Cup

Tuesday, 17th September 2013

Connections of French stayer Dunaden (Nicobar-La Marlia, by Kaldounevees) have confirmed the 7YO will return to Australia for his third Melbourne Cup, reports NZ Racing Desk. Plans were announced for another visit following Dunaden's unplaced effort in the Gr2 Prix Foy at Longchamp on Sunday which was run on a rain-affected track. "It was soft ground, they all finished in a heap behind the winner, and it didn't really suit him," commented David Redvers, racing manager for Dunaden's owner Sheikh Fahad Al Thani. "He'll go to Australia. The plan would be to fly in and go straight for the Melbourne Cup." Dunaden, the winner of 10 of 41 starts and over $7 million prize-money, won the 2011 Melbourne Cup defeating Red Cadeaux & Lucas Cranach before finishing a well beaten 14th behind Green Moon in last year's renewal.
