Keeneland Sep Day-9: Average Up 32%
At Wednesday's ninth session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale at Lexington, Kentucky, strong demand continued with double-digit gains realised across all key indicators. A total of 311 yearlings were sold for US$11,179,500, representing an increase of 36.8 per cent increase on last year's corresponding session gross of US$8,169,500. The US$35,947 average was 32.8 per cent higher than 2012 (US$27,051), while the US$27,000 median was 35 per cent above last year's figure of US$20,000. Wednesday's clearance rate of 88 per cent was described by Keeneland Director of Sales Geoffrey Russell as "phenomenal". The session-topper was a colt by Kitten's Joy out of the Stephen Got Even mare Esther Got Even, which was knocked down to Cromwell Bloodstock as agent for US$185,000 from the draft of Dromoland Farm Inc, agent.
