Andre Fabre Chasing Eighth Arc With Intello
French trainer Andre Fabre says that star French colt Intello (Galileo-Impressionnante, by Danehill) is his best chance of winning an eighth Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday week, reports racingpost.com. However, the master horseman says there will be "no masking it" if Intello's unproven stamina reserves fall short in the feature event. Fabre could have as many as four runners in Europe's most prestigious race, with former pre-post favourite Flintshire still in contention alongside Ocovango and Penglai Pavilion. Intello's facile victory in last weekend's Gr3 Prix Du Prince d'Orange (10 furlongs) left some observers nonplussed given the lack of quality opposition, but Fabre is not concerned. "He had an easy race which was necessary because the Arc is close," said Fabre, whose last Arc success came with Rail Link in 2006. Fabre added, "He's my best chance providing he stays the trip, because there isn't any other horse in the race that I know of who has been placed in two Group 1s over a mile. He's a laid-back horse and an easy ride, but in a Group 1 if you don't stay, you don't stay."
