Multiple Gr1 Winner Shoot Out Retired
Top class galloper Shoot Out (High Chaparral-Pentamerous, by Pentire) has been retired following his sub-par performance in the George Main Stakes in Sydney last Saturday, reports NZ Racing Desk. The 7YO gelding, who began his career with Gold Coast trainer John Wallace before being transferred to the Sydney stable of Chris Waller, won 10 of his 37 career starts for earnings of $3,238,950. The son of High Chaparral raced with distinction at the elite level throughout his career winning 5 Gr1s, namely the Australian Derby, Randwick Guineas, Chipping Norton Stakes (twice) & George Main Stakes. "Shoot Out has performed at the highest level for five years which is testament to all of those that have been involved in his career," Waller said. "On one hand it's a sad day, but on the other it's almost a relief to have been associated with such a good horse and to send him to the paddock in great condition." Shoot Out will retire to the Queensland property of his owners Graeme and Linda Huddy.
