Rizeena To Run In Shadwell Mile

Thursday, 26th September 2013

Top UK filly Rizeena (Iffraaj-Serena's Storm, by Statue of Liberty) will bid for her second consecutive Gr1 success in Friday's Gr1 Shadwell Fillies' Mile at Newmarket rather than the Gr1 Cheveley Park Stakes the following day, reports racinguk.com. The prevailing warmer weather has prompted trainer Clive Brittain to target the longer race with the last-start Moyglare Stud Stakes winner. "The weather looks set fair for the week. We felt that if the ground was good, good to soft we would go for the Cheveley, but we are going to run her in the Mile as it's going to suit her a lot better," explained the Newmarket horseman. "One of the reasons we are going for the Mile is that this will be her 1,000 Guineas trial." Brittain is confident that Rizeena will relish stepping out over more ground. "She will stay, that is not going to be a problem. She's in great form at the moment…she is an exceptional filly and is thriving on what she's doing."
