Grandeur Sets Sights On Breeders' Cup
UK trainer Jeremy Noseda says Grandeur (Verglas-Misskinta, by Desert Sun) is on course for a clash with outstanding mare The Fugue in America later this year after his impressive win in the Listed Foundation Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday, reports thoroughbreddailynews.com. The talented 4YO stayer unleashed a brilliant turn of foot from the rear of the field to score a comfortable 1.25-lengths victory over Quick Wit & Making Eyes. The Melbourne Cup bound Brown Panther clearly did not appreciate the sharp drop in distance and faded into fifth. "I was worried about ground today, as he's a fast-ground horse and I didn't think conditions would suit him," explained Noseda. "He likes turning tracks and that's why I took him to America last year. I knew the track would suit him well, as he's won here before." Noseda confirmed that Grandeur would return to the US where he seems to enjoy racing. "I've got a few things in my mind for him now and I'll sit down with owner and have a chat later on this week. We could have crack at the Breeders' Cup Turf or maybe take in something easier, but we'll have a good look. He loves America, that's where he is at his best." Grandeur has raced in the US on four occasions, winning the Gr2 Twilight Derby & the Gr2 Hollywood Turf Cup, as well as finishing runner-up in the Gr1 Hollywood Derby.
