Rebel Dane Wins Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes

At Caulfield in Melbourne, Baerami Thoroughbreds stallion California Dane (Danehill-Storminwinter, by Seattle Slew) added a Gr1 triumph when 4YO entire Rebel Dane (California Dane-Texarcana, by More Than Ready) scored by 0.1-length for trainer Gary Portelli in the $400,000 Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) for 3YOs+, over 5YO gelding Fontelina (Testa Rossa-Decipher, by Timber Country) & 7YO gelding Solzhenitsyn (St. Petersburg-Tri Victory, by Victory Dance). This was Rebel Dane's first Gr1 victory and took his record to 6 wins (including the Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes & Gr3 Show County Handicap) & a placing (the Gr2 Hobartville Stakes) from 10 starts for $663,630 earnings.
