Charlton Happy With Al Kazeem

Wednesday, 2nd October 2013

Al Kazeem remains on target for Sunday's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp after pleasing trainer Roger Charlton in a workout with stable mate Thistle Bird at the weekend, reports sportinglife.com. "They both worked well on Saturday morning over eight furlongs on our summer gallops, which are in fantastic condition," Charlton posted on his website. The Beckhampton trainer said he was confident that Al Kazeem (Dubawi-Kazeem, by Darshaan) was still enjoying his racing and that he would be a force come Sunday. "His class has enabled him to win his Gr1 races over 10 furlongs but I also think he is capable of excelling over twelve furlongs as he did in the Jockey Club Stakes," he said. "There is no disputing that this year's race is going to be contested by the best horses in Europe and two very smart colts from Japan (Orfevre & Kizuna)." He added, "We will need all the assistance we can get in Europe's most exciting race but some ease in the ground and going right handed will help him." Outstanding Japanese galloper Orfevre is the current Arc favourite at around 5/2 ahead of undefeated 3YO filly Treve at 7/2.
