Goffs Orby Day-1: Aggregate Up 11%
At Wednesday's opening session of the Goffs Orby Sale in Ireland, 177 yearlings were sold for an aggregate of €15,484,000, an increase of 11 per cent from last year's corresponding session total of 13,553,500 when 152 yearlings were sold. The average of €87,480 was down 3.5 per cent from 2102 (€89,168), while the median of €55,000 also saw a slight fall of 3.5 per cent from last year (€57,000). However, the clearance rate was an impressive 89 per cent compared to last year's 84 per cent. Wednesday's top seller was a daughter of Raven's Pass from the Gr3 winning Montjeu mare Albisola who hails from the same family as Gr1 St James’s Palace winner Most Improved. The filly was purchased by Shadwell Estate Ltd for €520,000 from the consignment of Knocktoran Stud as part of the dispersal of the late Gerry Oldham’s Citadel Stud.
