Prospect Of Rain For Longchamp

Thursday, 3rd October 2013

Connections of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe contenders will have to be prepared for a potentially rain-affected surface for Sunday's big race, reports sportinglife.com. The ground at Longchamp was reported as officially good-soft on Tuesday by the International Racing Bureau, but MeteoGroup forecaster John Lee said that there was a prospect of heavy rain closer to the race. "There does appear to be an area of unsettled weather on Friday afternoon and early into Saturday," Lee said. "This includes the chance of thunder, which could bring a spell of heavy rain, although it looks at this stage as if this could disappear quite quickly. It will be mostly cloudy and dry after that." Twenty-one horses remain in contention at the first forfeit stage, including race favourite Orfevre, while leading fancies Treve and Leading Light are expected to be supplemented for €100,000 on Thursday.
