Dettori Ruled Out For Season

Friday, 4th October 2013

Frankie Dettori has been ruled out for the season and consequently will have to forego the prized ride on unbeaten filly Treve in Sunday's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, reports sportinglife.com. Dettori fractured his ankle in a fall at Nottingham on Wednesday and was stood down for the rest of the day. Dettori's business manager Peter Burrell said the champion Italian jockey was not in good spirits. "He was extremely disappointed on the phone and did not want to discuss it much more than that," said Burrell. "It's an extremely painful injury. Sunday is out - as is the season." Thierry Jarnet has been announced as the new partner for Treve with trainer Criquette Head-Maarek stating, "I have just spoken to Frankie and I have just spoken to Sheikh Joaan (owner), who has agreed that Thierry Jarnet will ride Treve on Sunday. It is bad luck for Frankie, but that is life in racing."
