LoPresti: Wise Dan Just As Good As Last Year

Friday, 4th October 2013

US Horse of the Year Wise Dan (Wiseman's Ferry-Lisa Danielle, by Wolf Power) will make his final appearance before the Breeders' Cup Mile when he defends his title in the Gr1 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes at Keeneland this Saturday, reports bloodhorse.com. Wise Dan is undefeated in 2013 and has won nine stakes races in a row (all Gr1 or Gr2), the most recent of which was his track-record victory in the Woodbine Mile. Trainer Charlie LoPresti says the 6YO gelding is just as good as he was last year, if not better. "I think from what I see he's every bit what he was last year," LoPresti said. "The Woodbine race told me that. My jaw was dropped. I was just in awe." LoPresti continued, "Believe me, I don't know that I'll ever have another horse like him. If we're lucky enough to get through these next two races and he stays undefeated for the year, I'll feel like I've done the best job I can with my horse."
