Sangster To Miss Caulfield Cup

Wednesday, 9th October 2013

Exceptional New Zealand stayer Sangster will miss the Caulfield Cup after connections elected not to leave him in at the third acceptance stage. According to horseracing.com.au, trainer Paddy Busuttin stated after Sangster's disappointing showing in last Saturday's Gr1 Turnbull Stakes in Melbourne: "He doesn't have the best of feet and his old joints have been around the block a few times now. He very much felt the hard track, the wind dried it out by that time of the day, and it was just too hard for him. He looked after himself but he has pulled up jarred up and sore." Sangster is the winner of three Gr1 races: the VRC Victoria Derby, International Stakes & Auckland Cup.
