Simenon Searching For Cup Penalty On Saturday

Wednesday, 9th October 2013

Meanwhile, European raider Simenon will be searching a much needed Melbourne Cup penalty if he runs, as planned, in Saturday's Gr2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield, reports sportinglife.com. The Willie Mullins-trained 6YO son of Marju is winless since June 2012, and was brought to Australia for the Spring Carnival despite any guarantee of a run in the Melbourne Cup. Mullins noted: "At the moment the plan is to run on Saturday. He travelled very well and we're happy with him." Irish-bred Simenon has finished runner-up in his past two starts in the UK which include the Gr1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot & the Gr2 Lonsdale Cup at York.
