Rebel Dane Back In Work

Friday, 11th October 2013

Top sprinter Rebel Dane (California Dane-Texarcana, by More Than Ready) has had his first trackwork gallop since winning the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield on September 29, reports horseracing.com.au. The 4YO was showing signs of a tired horse following his maiden Gr1 success so trainer Gary Portelli gave him a few days to freshen up. "He had a few easy days; the first couple of days he was a bit jaded and had his head to the back of the stable and didn't want to talk to anybody, but he bounced back pretty quickly," Portelli said. Portelli says the talented son of California Dane will have his next start in the Gr1 Patinack Farm Classic (1200m) at Flemington on November 9. "We will build him back up again so he is right at his peak on the day," he said.
