El Roca Interference Could Result In Trip Home

Monday, 14th October 2013

Meanwhile, New Zealand colt El Roca, who was a casualty of interference at the home turn in last Saturday's Gr1 Caulfield Guineas, could be headed 'back home' for a tilt at the NZ 2000 Guineas, reports nzracing.co.nz. Despite the scrimmaging, El Roca still managed to steady himself and fly home for an eye-catching fifth. Co-trainer Natalie Young commented: "To pick himself up and run home as strongly as he did was a miracle as the ones who were involved in the interference have all finished at the back of the field... We will monitor him over the next 48 hours and work out where to go with him but at this stage we are looking at bringing him home to get ready for the 2000 Guineas at Riccarton."
