At Caulfield, Darley shuttler & Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner Street Cry (Machiavellian-Helen Street, by Troy) added a Gr1 success when 3YO gelding Long John (Street Cry-Hosiery, by Night Shift) scored by 0.5-length for trainer Peter Snowden in the $1 million Gr1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) for 3YO c&g, over fellow 3YO gelding Divine Calling (Stratum-Rubicall, by Rubiton) & 3YO colt Shamus Award (Snitzel-Sunset Express, by Success Express). This was Long John's first Gr1 victory and took his record to 5 wins (including the Listed Anzac Day Stakes & Listed Henry Bucks Best Dressed Stakes) & 2 placings (including the Gr3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude & Listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes) from 7 starts for $854,350 earnings.
