Royal Descent Sister Off The Mark In Town

Tuesday, 15th October 2013

Talented 3YO filly Chateau Lafaite (Redoute's Choice-Mulan Princess, by Kaapstad), a full-sister to Gr1 Australian Oaks winner Royal Descent, could venture south in search of some valuable black-type after posting an impressive victory at Randwick last Saturday. According to winning trainer Chris Waller, Chateau Lafaite may be targeted at a stakes race in Melbourne if a suitable event can be found during the carnival. "She's still learning her role," said Waller. "We're very proud to see her do that this early in her career. If there's a nice race over 1400 metres in three weeks in Melbourne then we'll have a look." Both Chateau Lafaite & Royal Descent are by Arrowfield Stud's champion sire Redoute's Choice from the Gr2-winning Kaapstad mare Mulan Princess (Kaapstad-Madam Valeta, by Palace Music). Mulan Princess, in turn, is a half-sister to multiple group winner and sire Falkirk (Tale Of The Cat-Madam Valeta) and a three-quarter sister to the brilliant dual Gr1 winner Golden Sword (Kaapstad-Lovenvain, by Vain), winner of the 1993 Epsom & Toorak Handicaps.
