Gr1 Winner Dullahan Retired After Injury

Wednesday, 16th October 2013

Three-time US Gr1 winner Dullahan (Even the Score-Mining My Own, by Smart Strike) has been retired with a tendon injury, reports kentucky.com. The Dale Romans-trained 4YO won just 3 of his 18 starts, but remarkably each victory was at Gr1 level, namely the Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland, the Blue Grass Stakes at Kentucky & the Pacific Classic Stakes at Del Mar, where he defeated brilliant galloper Game On Dude. Dullahan failed to win a race in his final six outings, including an eighth in this year's Pacific Classic, finishing with career earnings of US$1,735,901. "Dullahan is the most spectacular looking horse Donegal has campaigned," Donegal Racing's managing owner Jerry Crawford tweeted, which includes "... the likes of Tiznow and Candy Ride." Dullahan will spend time at WinStar Farm in Kentucky to recover from his injury.
