Julienas Gains Caulfield Cup Start

Wednesday, 16th October 2013

Irish raider Forgotten Voice has missed out on a start in Saturday's $2.5 million Caulfield Cup (2400m) after the Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) exercised its discretionary powers to elevate Julienas into the field, reports sportal.com.au. The Gai Waterhouse-trained Julienas was given the final spot in the 18 horse field because the MRC deemed that his recent form was superior to that of Forgotten Voice. Although Forgotten Voice claimed the Gr3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood before leaving for Australia, Julienas' win in the Gr3 Colin Stephen Quality at Rosehill and his second in the Gr1 Metropolitan two weeks ago was given a higher rating. That sees Forgotten Voice as the first emergency, with Peter Moody's pair Sneak A Peek and Ibicenco, and the Peter Morgan & Craig Widdison-trained Oasis Bloom, the other emergencies.
