UK Gr1 Winner To Race In Australia Before Retirement
Gr1 winner Havana Gold (Teofilo-Jessica's Dream, by Desert Style) will have his final race start in Australia before being retired to stud at Tweenhills Farm in 2014, reports 1.skysports.com. The Prix Jean Prat winner will be transferred from Richard Hannon to Mikel Delzangles with plans to have his final racetrack appearance in the Gr1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington on November 9. However, it is possible that he could have another start in Australia before joining fellow Qatar Bloodstock-owned stallions Makfi and Harbour Watch at Tweenhills. His fee will be £8,500. David Redvers, Tweenhills principal and racing manager for Qatar Racing Ltd, said: "Richard Hannon made a wonderful job of handling Havana Gold's career thus far, but he will join Dunaden to travel to Australia where he will be handled by Mikel Delzangles and his team. They are due to fly this coming weekend." Redvers added, "We are hoping he will round off his career in style in Australia."
